The Brief:

Lead a stakeholder engagement campaign

IOSH is the Chartered membership organisation for Occupational Safety and Health, with about 50,000 members. It sets and maintains the professional standard for its members globally through Membership Grades. The organisation needed to review the Grades to ensure they aligned with employers’ expectations. I was brought in to lead the stakeholder engagement project.

The review of grades needed to be conducted through consultation with members and other stakeholders. Working as an Interim with the Director of Professional Services, along with colleagues in Communications and Governance, I developed an engagement strategy to encourage members to get involved in the consultation, and I led a year-long campaign harnessing print and digital channels alongside the members’ forum. The review led to recommendations for change, which required a member vote at the AGM.

Members voted in favour of the changes to Membership Grades and IOSH’s Board of Trustees praised the project team for its approach to consultation, engaging communications and disciplined working.
