About

I have worked in PR, communications and marketing in one shape or form for over 30 years. With experience in most disciplines from branding and digital marketing to media relations, internal comms and change comms, I describe myself as a generalist.

My broad skillset and strong business acumen equip me to take a helicopter view of comms and marketing. Having worked at a senior level for many years, I am used to helping leaders balance risk and opportunity. I quickly orientate myself to the business goals and spot the low hanging fruit to prioritise for more impactful comms and marketing.

I have worked with B2C and B2B companies (from start-ups and micro businesses to large corporates) as well as charities and the public sector. I consider myself sector agnostic and I have proven time and again that I am adept at getting up to speed quickly with new subject matter.

How I work

I build relationships quickly at all levels and relish the opportunity to influence when working with leadership teams. I’m good at spotting where things can be improved, but savvy enough to respect when change needs to be pitched and paced with sensitivity.

I welcome accountability and a shared purpose, and I work best in environments with a strong team spirit.

I see every client brief as a collaboration. I become part of the team – a thinking partner. I am not your answer to tactical delivery; instead, I add value by setting the right direction and helping companies build the right capacity. Clients often tell me they feel supported, understood, and energized by our work together. Colleagues say I am empathetic, open and fun.

Much of my work has involved mentoring; I find it rewarding to see people grow in confidence, particularly when that confidence is expressed in work that adds ever more value to the business.

Face time over screen time

It is typically more practical and efficient to meet on Teams or Zoom, particularly when there are groups involved. However, as a people person at heart, I opt for face time over a call whenever possible. I am a strong advocate for time in the office during the onboarding process and when building teams.

I am based in London and happy to travel anywhere outside London if you are willing to cover my expenses.

When the weather allows, I am a big fan of a ‘walk and talk’ – keen to escape the screen and have a free-range chat. Walking side-by-side in the fresh air helps the conversation flow – it’s great for ideas, problem solving and getting to know people better.
